In midsummer, the lake beckons for romantic swims with water temperatures that can reach up to 24 °C and lovely natural beaches.

During winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, sledging and snowshoeing in the cool bracing atmosphere. For your convenience, there is also an indoor swimming pool, an indoor ice rink, a multipurpose hall as well as a weights room. As soon as winter temperatures allow the lake to freeze over, it turns into Europe’s largest natural ice rink.

The Watchmaking Museum “Espace Horloger” in Le Sentier, the Vacherin Cheese Museum, the animal park Juraparc as well as the caves and the Iron and Railway Museum in Vallorbe can be reached in less than 15 minutes.

Hotel de Ville faces Lake Joux and is located in the village centre of L’Abbaye, in Switzerland’s Joux Valley (Vallée de Joux).

Arrival by car :
Arriving via motorway A1 from somewhere between Geneva and Lausanne, take exit no. 15/Morges and continue 200 m in the direction of Bière. At the first roundabout, turn left in the direction of Beausobre. You will be driving alongside the motorway for almost 1 km while continuing straight on Avenue de la Gottaz and later on Avenue Monod. At the roundabout, turn left in the direction of Vallée de Joux/L’Isle. Pass by Colombier, Cottens and Saint-Denis and you will reach L’Isle after about 16 km. Continue in the direction of Vallée de Joux/Mollendruz. Drive over Mollendruz mountain pass and then turn left in the direction of L’Abbaye. When reaching the main road at the village square (Place du Village), turn left. After 250 m, you will see the car park of Minotel de Ville on your right-hand side.

Coming from Berne via motorway A1, follow the direction of Vallorbe at the junction no. 23-Essert-Pittet. At the end of this semi-motorway, follow the Joux-Valley (Vallée de Joux). Arriving at Le Pont, turn left in the direction of La Cure. Continue for about 2 km along the lake. When reaching L’Abbaye, continue for about 500 m and you will see the car park of Minotel de Ville on your right-hand side.

Arrival by train :
Vallorbe railway station is 11 km from the hotel away. Regional trains coming from Lausanne as well as TGV trains running between Lausanne and Paris stop here. You can also reach this train station by postbus from Yverdon-les-Bains train station. A regional train connects Vallorbe station to Le Pont station once an hour. A bus that runs until about 6:30 pm then takes you to L’Abbaye-Place du Village.

Arrival by airplane :
Geneva Airport is 70 km away. Take motorway A1 in the direction of Lausanne. Then follow the above driving directions. By public transport : please change in Lausanne in order to reach Vallorbe train station.

Basel Airport is 205 km and Zurich Airport 235 km away. Take the motorway until Berne. Then follow the above driving directions. By public transport : take a train to Lausanne railway station. Then follow the above directions.
