The Raclette is very simple: an alp atmosphere, cheese and a glass
of
white wine from Valais and that’s it !
Glacier Wine
Glacier wine is produced from the Rèze grape variety or from
blending mainly the Rèze and Ermitage varieties. The wine ages in
larch barrels that are placed in the wine cellars of the Anniviers
Valley. These barrels are never totally emptied and each year, the
old wine is filled with new wine.
We would be pleased to organize a wine tasting for you in the cellar

Welcome to the Val d'Anniviers !
Grimentz is a village rich in traditions, which you can observe when
going to the old quarters of the village. Each Friday multiple
stands
let you discover the typical products of the Valais. Go for a stroll
in the centre of Grimentz and explore the crypt containing the old
oak wine casks in which the wine of the Glacier is kept to
ripen.
The wine of the Glacier can only be tasted in the cellars of the
village. The principle of this wine is very simple, it consists of
the fact to never empty the wine cask and that each year the new
wine
is being added to the old one. A mystic wine stemming from an old
tradition and unique in the world.
Summer
The adventuresome will be tempted by the Via Ferrata at 2,250
altitude. You won’t be disappointed by the impregnable view, which
offers the barrage of Moiry.
The sportive will be delighted about the 100 km VTT route, which
the
region offers. All for the VTT!
From paragliding to climbing to the less risky sports such as tennis
and miniature golf, Grimentz offers a wide spectrum of sports and
leisure, in order to fulfil all desires.
Winter
Like in Summer you won’t be bored in Winter in Grimentz! A multitude
of activities are offered, cross-country skiing, to sledge or snow
shoeing.
Excursion The cabana of the Moiry-glacier
In the heart of the alps, in front of a stunning panorama is this
cabana undoubtedly a significant place for hiking.
Route: A track is leading up from Grimentz to the barrage of the
lake of de Moiry. Follow the road along the lake as far as the
parking, which is the point of departure for hiking (2350 m). Take
the small path leading up from the lake and becoming more and more
narrow until you reach the cabana of the Moiry-glacier, (2825 m)
about 2 hours with an altitude difference of 475 m.
You will enjoy a splendid view on the Moiry-glacier.
Provisions at the cabana of the Moiry-glacier, which dominates the
glacier, the barrage and the valley of the same name. Return on the
same route in approximately 1h45.
Map & Directions
By car :
Coming from the motorway A9 from Lausanne, Sion or Brigue
take
the exit Sierre-Est and continue on the main road direction
Vissoie, then Grimentz.
When passing the Lötschberg tunnel, drive from Spiez
to Kandersteg train station, load your car onto the train for
Goppenstein train station. Continue then for 30 km on the main road
direction Sierre and take the exit direction Vissoie, Grimentz.
The hotel de Moiry is located in the village centre, next to the
tourist office.
By train :
The train station of Sierre is at a distance of 24 km from Grimentz.
In order to arrive at the hotel, take the PTT bus as far as the post
office of Vissoie, then another one direction Grimentz and get off
at
Carovilla. The Hotel de Moiry is located only a few minutes from
this
station.
By plane:
From Geneva airport, at a distance of 195 km, take the motorway
direction Lausanne then Sion and follow then above instructions.
By public transport, the trains take you directly to Sierre, then
you
can take the bus as indicated above.
